About our school

We hope that this section of the website will tell you what you want to know about life at Acle St Edmund C of E Primary School. Please come and visit us, we are proud of our school, and would welcome the chance to show you around.

Acle St Edmund is a village primary school for children aged 4-11 years. As a church school it serves the whole community of Acle and Moulton St Mary, although we do have pupils coming to us from further afield. The school is located in a beautiful position with views over the neighbouring marshland.

The new school was built in 1988 anP1040016d in September 2003 two new classrooms and a new staff room were opened. There are eight large teaching bases in the main building, as well as an IT suite and the “Owl Club” room which we use for nurture style interventions as well as an after school club.  In addition we have a separate mobile, which used exclusively for music lessons. A large central hall holds the whole school for assemblies and concerts, and is equipped for gymnastics.  We also have a well stocked library, quiet study areas, a kitchen and a resources room.

Our large playing field and hard playground area provide excellent opportunities for a full range of sports and play activities. Thanks to the fundraising efforts of our Friends of the School Association (FOSA) we have been able to carry out some large scale projects. They have helped us to install a wonderful woodland tower activity frame, a tyre park activity area and a large wooden outdoor sheltered gazebo at the top of our field. As well as a quiet area for children to relax in, it also provides playtime protection for the children who wish to escape the sun on very hot days.

There is a large, separate play area with a wide range of adventure equipment for the children in the Early Years Foundation Stage.

In 2002 a community building was opened on site. This is currently used by Acle Pre-School. There are close links between the school and all the local pre-schools and nurseries. At the end of Year 6, most children transfer to Acle Academy, with whom we have very close links.
